Pao Houa Her opens at Franklin Art Works
Friday, March 15 from 6 to 8pm
The exhibition will remain on view through Saturday, May 4, 2013.  Gallery hours: Wednesday-Saturday, 12-5pm and by appointment for for school groups.

The exhibition will premier selected works from the artist’s expansive series of photographs completed within the past year that documents the artist’s family and wider examinations of Hmong culture, including international internet dating and portraits of an aging generation of Vietnam war era Hmong American veterans, who have created an ad hoc veterans structure to recognize and award their own ranks, medal status and hierarchy.  The exhibition also includes self-portraits, still lives, action-based images and recent black and white landscapes from Pao Houa Her’s 2012 travels in Laos, delivering an extraordinary diversity of interconnected and interwoven subjects and overall approach to image making.

Pao Houa Her received an MFA from Yale University in 2012.  This will be the artist’s first solo exhibition.
