Art Saves Us

Art Saves Us (ASU) provides free art classes and transportation to Hmong youth (ages 8-19), as a productive, engaging alternative for out-of-school activities. ASU provides artistic instruction within a safe and comfortable atmosphere, where youth develop a sense of identity, independence and discipline through creative self-expression. Students can learn a variety of art forms in ASU; previous classes include break dancing, choir, spoken word, theatre, painting, bookmaking, puppet making and more. Classes are taught in a throughout the year in three semesters: Fall/ Winter, Winter/ Spring and Summer, and students showcase their work at the end of each semester for family, friends and the community.
